MYTH NO. 1
A sales person tells you, “My company is DOT certified.”
TRUTH:
D.O.T. does NOT issue any type of official certification to any company as being certified. It is up to each individual company to test and certify their employees.
MYTH NO. 2
A sales person tell you, “I’m with the Institute of Hazardous Materials”, (Indicating some type of Government involvement or some type of Government association or affiliation.)
TRUTH:
D.O.T. does NOT associate itself with any private company and there is no “Institute” associated with D.O.T. for hazardous materials or dangerous goods.
MYTH NO. 3
A sales person tells you, “You must be IATA certified”.
TRUTH:
D.O.T. does NOT officially recognize other associations as official trainers. D.O.T. states that your company is responsible to be sure that the training provided to your employees meets U.S. Law.
